When Trouble Comes #5 - More and more nasty stuff is coming out of the woodwork. The girls are keeping too many secrets and are not learning to work as or be a team. Trouble is coming big time from many points and this is the creepiest of the series. Well written, well thought out and a continuously evolving story line keeps the reader immersed in the pages. Ms. Ho does a great job with her vivid descriptions and twists to the plot. Only complaint is waiting soooo long for the next episode. 5*

What Doesn't Kill You, Episode #1 - Totally awesome!, and it's just the first episode. It's a cliffhanger but it's written in episodes, which I totally dislike in any book. That pet peeve aside, Ms. Ho has done a jam up job with the start of a new series. This genre is right up my alley and I love everything I've read by this author. The story starts with the introductions of the main characters and touches on their background. I'm sure as the pages grow, the characters will develop more with time and experiences. So far, I like all of them, and I usually don't care for this age group, but I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the story. The last chapter pretty much gave a big hint of the future of these four young women and the roller coaster ride their lives will be now.

I wish I could tell what happened to Christian, but that's a spoiler; I let you enjoy the story with fresh eyes and no heads up. The story line can go anywhere from here and I know the ride will be fast paced and twisted. I thank the author for the clean language; yes, real people do not use vulgar language, whether they're Christians or not. 5 stars even though it's in parts - made for the screen, not to make more profits. 5*

Beware the Signs, Episode #2 - Intense. Intriguing. More players join the original cast as the storyline develops. The four young women start to recognize their special abilities as the evil begins. Well written with interesting characters and a plot that grows with suspense and twists. As with the first episode, it's a cliffhanger. 5*

See No Evil, Episode #3 - Intriguing. Suspenseful. Dangerous. Things are getting worse in this well written and well thought out episode. A lot of the darkness is interacting with the four young women. It's easy to get immersed in the actions of all involved. I love the way the present is mixed with Salem in 1693. The flashbacks aren't excessive; just appearing to build the present's horror or mirror happenings of 1693. 5*

The Blood That Binds #4 - Darn, another cliffhanger, but of course. Started a little slow for me, but quickly picked up the pace. Intriguing and suspense filled as the story progresses along with an interesting, developing plot. The back stories of all the characters are getting meatier and the evil is setting his play into motion affecting the young ladies mysteriously. This is a must read series, but it's easier on the reader to have all five books, the wait in between is hard. 5*

"When Trouble Comes" is yet another provocative installment to the Twisted story. The "Trouble" is so encompassing as each girl comes into more turmoil both with their powers and their lives as a whole. Just as all young adults start to come into their own without really understanding how they can become an adult, which is scary, while not wanting to lose themselves. We all go through this time in our lives, often multiple times, when we want to turn to a loved one but a) don't see how they could ever possibly understand since they never had it this bad and b) not wanting to worry or bother them. I love how Jo Ho has turned coming of age into a powerful metaphor of fantasy, magic, mystery, and intrigue that everyone would love to read or WATCH WEEKLY(HINT HINT PRODUCERS).
As before more twists are introduced into the lives of these young ladies but none of them are forced which is great. They all are twists that make sense(if that makes sense).
Descriptive scenes put the reader in the story as we (well I) find ourselves talking to the characters as if they could hear us. Each of the girls and even Christian is completely relatable. I'm glad Ally,Paul, and Si are becoming more involved in the story as loved ones of the girls it makes sense and adds to the realism and relatability of what the girls are going through since no one goes through life without someone else having a part.
When will the characters realize that they need to be careful with their powers because as Spiderman said, "With great power, comes great responsibility." This is said elsewhere but I won't say where to avoid spoilers. The girls, Christian, and their loved ones need to be more honest with each other. I can't help feeling there is more than just Michael and their own growth that they are battling.
Who all really knows of their powers?? How much of what has happened to them has been orchestrated by a greater power?? I look forward to continuing this journey with them.

Wow, this series just gets better and better. As you listen to each book you learn a little bit more about each girl and there struggles. You find yourself rooting for the girls to over come there problems and become the firm friends you know they are eventually going to become but at this stage there plans of kindness or friendship just seems to back fire and make it all worse. All of this makes for an interesting story as you never quite know what is going to happen next. Off to start book six with great expectations of more magic mayhem to come.
The four girls are wrapped up in there own troubles and have no time to save the world. Eve is being haunted by a memory from her past, one that she can't even tell her new friends about. Tyler is busy burning the midnight oil at both ends and using magic to her get through but will this have its own set of consequence? And what will happen if one of the other girls finds out? Cassie finds out that her unconscious actions might have consequences of there own, that affect other people. Marley is still trying to figure out her relationship with her father when the bond with Cassie is put to the test. Despite all this the girls manage to find a magical seal before Michael onlyl for it to go very wrong.
I really like the narrator and combined with her skill this is a very magical series, that is well worth a listen.

An awful lot of trouble happens in this book. These girls each have secrets and they are getting out of hand to the point where others are getting harmed. How will they cope and overcome this latest strand of terror? Somewhere along the line they will need to stand as a united front. I can’t wait to read the next book. The tension and mystery are leading up to an epic explosion. I just know it!

When Trouble Comes is the fifth short serial in the Twisted series.

Final Rating: 5 Stars

The fifth installment in the Twisted series concentrated a great deal on the relationships between the girls, while also moving the plot forward in a couple of significant ways. The girls are college-aged, & are inexperienced in many aspects of life. This inexperience has caused more than one of them to make mistakes of a personal nature or fall into snares related to their special abilities. Personally, I would still prefer these short episodes to be combined into longer books, since I feel that the plot slows considerably using this format. Instead of smooth flow, it seems full of stops-n-starts. That's why I am awarding this book 4 stars, but I would award 4.5 stars if I could. This lower ranking is not indicative of a flaw in Jo Ho's writing by any means, as I am a big fan of hers. I think that it is more of a flaw of this format of serialized writing. I still recommend this series for anyone who likes a bit of suspense with their magic.

During this series, a build up has begun and is mounting with each episode. This one was packed full of emotion and revealed some interesting information that stirred trouble between the girls but they are still a tight bunch and will endure. I have no idea where this series will go but they are so important in this series to find out who they are and why these things are happening. I actually devour each book from the second I download it until I have reached the end. This book is easy to read and hard to stop reading! Ms Ho is extremely talented and with the things that a few of the girls are getting into, coming from a background of similar struggles, I can sympathize with them. Keep these episodes coming. Love this series!

The ball of thread continues to unwind on this twisted tale.... But when it's fully unravelled, will it be the pearl in the oyster or is it simply the silk leading to a spider's egg sac?
A yellow dress, the-thing-that-happened, magical potions and powers, violence, drama, betrayal, connections, He-that-was... All of this and more come at you at an increasing pace.
Make sure you move all portable heavy objects, because you're going to want to throw something.
The characters are well-created; So well, that as you read, you'll picture them as someone you know, and you'll feel as if you're a part of the story. What happens to them happens to you.
When Trouble Comes is aptly named and is the perfect springboard to book 6!

I enjoyed this one the most so far.

This book is about choices. Decisions that are made can have an impact no matter how trivial they may seem. The four friends really start to try to work together now, in an effort to stop Michael's plan, learn their abilities and form a bond with each other. Life has a habit of interrupting your best intentions, and free will can be tricky. Add to this abuse of power, strange hauntings and family problems and you have a very stormy set of problems. The relationships between the four girls, past issues, and their personalities, really comes into things here to great effect. Fans of drama will really appreciate this, as will fans of a fast paced, tense story.

Better and better with each book.

Great, as usual. This series is so good and hard to put down. When Trouble Comes Book 5 is another incredible story in the Twisted series with amazing characters and fast-paced action. I love being on this journey with the young ladies and riding along on all the twists and turns. I am really happy to see Ally included in this installment, too. I’m looking forward to seeing what is going to happen next. Jo Ho does an amazing job in capturing all the nuances of these characters and the setting descriptions put you right in the middle of the action. Don’t miss this series.

This is book 5 in the series and whilst I continue to enjoy the storyline I felt that this one for me lacked a little momentum. Although there is still a fair bit of drama it didn’t have the same edge of your seat anticipation that I’d come to expect from the previous 4 books. However, the character development and the unspoken bond that is between them continues to grow and their interactions make for some very interesting and revealing reading.

The girls are still learning more about their abilities as they find themselves amidst danger and mayhem. Their always seems to be doubt and mistrust even among themselves. They are going to have to lean more on each other and band together as a team to triumph. I don't ever want this series to end!

I enjoyed this short story. It's a part of a larger story so it's not very long. To know what is going on you really need to start at the beginning. All in all it's a great story. Well written and reads nicely. Looking forward to the next installment.

This book series is moving slowly forward, but is still enjoyable. Cassie has been caught out using her power but she never meant for it to came back and hurt anyone. Tyler has been found out by Cassie with her potions. Eve is being haunted by a yellow dress. Marley is attacked because of Cassie’s actions and poor little Ally is having problems of her own.

I was given this book for free at my request but the opinion is of my own. Well just when you think the things with the girls are getting good Cassie ends up doing something she shouldn’t with her magic and ends up almost getting one of the others hurt. Bruised friendships aside they get a lead to the next seal hoping to get there before someone else.

When Trouble Comes, my eighth read from author Jo Ho & the fifth book in the new series that I began late last year & continued recently, was well-written & enjoyable, a tale well-woven over the entire length of the short book, the suspense building throughout. An enjoyable series that I look forward to reading. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Young adults with special powers. Eve has a yellow dress that she buried, but it keeps showing up. Marley gets attacked at the student laundromat and calls Cassie for help. This will keep you guessing at what will happen next.
